Please think of the kittens...612 words today. Just too damn tired to put very much effort and concentration into writing. Which means I’m about 700 words behind right now, but hey, that’s nothing I can’t catch up with by the weekend. Watch me. I’ll do it.
Today’s favorite words is gloating.

Today’s wordcount: 1,380. Slightly under daily Nano average, but with 3880 words total I still have a little buffer and am happily ahead of the game. Started Seven with a flashback in which tiny Ares is introduced to the Shadows and I had quite a lot of fun with it. Figured out a way that makes it much easier to write in tiny Ares’ voice. Maybe last week’s session of my creative writing class was helpful here, because I finally realized what I was doing wrong and how to take care of some of my PoV problems. Writing from a child’s perspective is still a bitch, but it’s considerably easier now and actually started to be fun, yay.
Another thing I’m really happy with is managing to include more supporting cast interaction. Ares continues to ride his streak of personal denial and Orpheus simply cracks me up. He’s an awesome character and I like his air of mysteriousness or as Damian would put it: Who the fuck are you and what made you such a hardboiled old bastard?
So considering that I didn’t expect to get any writing done today due to deadlines for uni projects, I’m very pleased 
Chapter Six is finished and was a lot of fun to write. Lots of fun new stuff happens, Ares is a bitch, Damian is hilarious and hey, Raeyn shows up too! I’m really happy that things have gotten rolling again. Let’s hope it’ll stay that way and the private shit will back off for a while.
By the way, did I mention how much I love how Ares is in some sort of constant denial right now? It’s rather hilarious.
Anyway, 2500 words. I am pleased
Just thought I’d mention that and yes, there’s only one more chapter and an epilogue to come so I’m expecting to be done by Friday or Saturday at the latest, depending on how busy work and everything else will be. All in all I’ve been a pretty damn unsocial person for the last two weeks or so, having been obsessed busy bringing the first book of the Light trilogy to an end.
Anyway, gotta love that “I’m almost done!” feeling, but I still leave the wordcount at 120,000, even though I’ll probably be done by 105,000. After all the edits and rewriting bits I actually expect it to be longer than that, probably around 110,000 to 120,000 words which would be a great length for a first novel.

On writing: It looks good for me right now, somehow I’m in a creative and very productive phase right now, getting a lot done in terms of writing and plot construction. The ending stands (though it’s been there from the beginning) in roughly structured form. As always I leave details open to spontaneous writing and apparently that works out pretty well, considering some feedback that I got in regards to Twenty-One and other chapters I’ve written lately.
I updated my final wordcount again, downgrading it to about 120,000 words. Looking at my outline, I’m thinking 120k is a realistic goal and if things keep going as they are, I might be done with the first draft in 1-2 months -yay! However, I need to add and edit a bunch of things in the beginning before I officially can start the editing phase. There are some characters and entire plot specs (like Ares&Damian officially having a relationship ) that need to be added and that also will raise the wordcount, so it’ll probably exceed the 120k, but we’ll see how it goes.
On reading: I just started The Digital Plague by Jeff Somers. It just came out May 12th and I finally got it, so expect a review within a couple of days since it probably won’t take me too long to get through it;) After that I’m planning on some more traditional fantasy with a LGBT edge with Lynn Flewelling’s Nightrunner series and yes I picked up Lackey’s Last Herald Mage too – yay for cheap, used books
And here’s just an aside, but I just noticed that my engagement ring’s broken – snapped right through the bottom. Don’t ask me how it happened, but I knew from the beginning that it probably wouldn’t last forever. Damn. Now looking to get it fixed – hopefully
