Best of 2007

Just a note in advance: I’m not only listing 2007 releases here, but generally books that I’ve read in the course of the year

Best of 2007

1.) The Lies of Locke Lamora – Scott Lynch

2.) A Storm of Swords – George R. R. Martin (with fond memories because it’s been my literature on my first America trip :D)

3.) Before They Are Hanged – Joe Abercrombie (yes, the second one was even better  than the first one)

4.) The Blade Itself – Joe Abercrombie

 5.) Kushiel’s Dart – Jacqueline Carey

6.) Red Seas Under Red Skies – Scott Lynch

7.) Kushiel’s Justice – Jacqueline Carey (book 5, second volume in the Imriel triology and my latest read, definitely a favorite because I love the character :D)

8.) The Electric Church – Jeff Somers (can’t wait for the second volume)

9.) Kushiel’s Chosen – Jacqueline Carey

10.) The Name of the Wind – Patrick Rothfuss

Books I started but never really got into and put down in frustration:

1.) The Dragonbone Chair – Tad Williams

2.) Dune – Frank Herbert (I generally liked it but somehow….well I’ll pick it up again, I promise)

3.) The War of the Flowers – Tad Williams (I guess I just really can’t get into his writing style…)

Favorite New Releases:

1.) Red Seas Under Red Skies – Scott Lynch

2.) Before They Are Hanged – Joe Abercrombie

3.) Kushiel’s Justice – Jacqueline Carey

Wishlist for 2008:

1.) Republic of Thieves – Scott Lynch

2.) Last Argument of Kings – Joe Abercrombie

3.) Kushiel’s Mercy – Jacqueline Carey

4.) A Dance with Dragons – George R. R. Martin (IF it finally comes out…)

5.) The Digital Plague – Jeff Somers

Writing this I realize that I’m maybe not rating the books according to how good they are in the general perception, but rather according to what I want to read right now, so….well anyway, those and others are what we’re expecting 2008 and so far it looks like it’s going to be a great year for new releases 🙂

 Cheers,

Steffi
